Hello, world!

The lady on the left is me, 50 pounds ago, in July 2011. The pic on the right was taken in May 2013.

I wish I could tell you that this journey has been an easy one. I can't though. I can tell you, though, that even though it was difficult, and, at times, rather frustrating, it has been the most worthwhile thing I've ever done, and I've accomplished quite a bit in my 31 years of living.

This blog is dedicated to all the women who want to achieve their best selves and don't quite know where to start. I don't have all the answers, but since I started this healthy living journey 17 months ago (I started in February 2012), I've learned so much about health, wellness, fitness, and myself. It would be a shame for me to hold onto all this important information and not reach out to help someone else who needs it. So here, I will share what I know, what I do, what I've learned, and, hopefully, help you to achieve your very best, healthiest self ever.

Another reason I decided to start this blog is because, in the African-American community, I've noticed that health is simply not a priority for many of us. But so many black people are dying early, sudden deaths from diseases and sicknesses that research has shown could have been prevented with the proper diet and exercise. If I am able to change that for one person, I will feel like I've fulfilled my purpose for starting this blog. I hope this becomes a movement. For me, it has become a way of life. I look younger now than I did a 25. I feel better now than I did in high school. I am my best, happiest, healthiest self.

Join me? I can't wait for your before and after testimonies.
